What you’ll do
Visitors can scan the illustrated Roman bath images with a smartphone to experience summer and winter AR environments. They can view 3D virtual elements, listen to changing environmental sounds and interact with hotspots to discover additional content. Each return to the virtual environment offers a slightly different experience as the environment continues to change.
About the project
A museum tourism and cultural heritage metaverse project inspired by Leicester’s Jewry Wall Museum, exploring persistence as a key metaverse concept through seasonal transformation, environmental storytelling, animation, augmented reality and digital visual design.
Behind the work
The work was developed through an iterative design process combining graphic and visual design, 3D modelling, animation, environmental sound and image-based AR. Illustrated Roman bath designs were developed as visual foundations for the AR experience, connecting 2D imagery with evolving virtual content. Blender was used to develop the 3D environment, while seasonal variations, changing soundscapes and interactive elements were introduced and tested. The process focused on translating a research concept into a visual and experiential form through design practice.
